Wastewater lagoons are an economical way of treating wastewater. Lagoons allow for the natural breakdown of biochemical oxygen demand (BOD) and ammonia to leave clean, clear water behind. Depending on influent flow-rates, organic bottom solids and sludge collect at the bottom of the lagoon, decreasing the intake levels. Without regular maintenance, high BOD, total suspended solids (TSS) and malodors occur, which can result in complaints from neighbors, fines and costly emergency treatment.
The use of microbial products is important to reduce the amount of organic bottom solids (sludge). The bacterial blend and enzymes help to quickly break down and digest solids. As the temperature drops below 68° F all bacterial digestion naturally slows. However, the Pit Raider™ bacterial blend is less impacted by the temperature drop than naturally occurring bacteria found in lagoon sludge. Individually, or in combination, Aqua Jolt BEM™, Bio-Mate™ and Pit Raider™ will reduce bottom solids and sludge and restore water clarity and intake levels.
Aqua Jolt BEM™
Blend of cellulase enzymes, hyper-cellulase-producing bacteria and cold-weather bacteria. Increases natural bacterial activity to improve water clarity, cut surface scum and reduce bottom solids.
